Offa’s Press was founded in 2010 to publish and promote the best in West Midlands’ poetry. It does this through a series of publications and events where the watchword is ‘good on the page and good on stage’.
Regular writing workshops are held at Pant, near Oswestry, Shropshire. These include writing activities and a walk in the wonderful countryside on the border. Some of the material generated is published on our website. We have also devised and delivered workshops on the basic technical aspects of writing poetry: Poetry from Scratch.
Our most popular books to date include Bright Morning by Jane Seabourne, Black Country Dialectics by Dave Reeves and an anthology of The Poetry of Shropshire edited by Jeff Phelps and I.
Performances have taken place pretty much all over the region including at literature and arts festivals, libraries, bookshops and pubs/cafés and we are always looking for new outlets.
Arts Council England has given Offa’s Press some development funding to raise our profile, mentor promising regional poets and develop a social media presence while bringing out more publications including an anthology of environmental verse We’re All in This Together.
