Japanese Forms

Simon will be joining David Bingham to run a poetry writing workshop on Japanese forms (haiku, tanka and haibun). If you have an interest in finding out more about these intriguing and mercurial forms of poetry then come along. Offa’s Press is publishing an anthology of ‘Japanese forms’ by West Midland poets in October 2019. Tickets £7/ £5 on the door or can be reserved by contacting Simon http://info@offaspress.co.uk.

The Poetry of Worcestershire

Location: The Hive, Sawmill Walk, The Butts, Worcester, WR1 3PD.

Join Simon Fletcher and Michael W. Thomas for an absorbing poetry writing workshop on the poetry of Worcestershire. Simon and Michael will encourage those attending to produce some new work on the county’s heritage and how it is today. So if you’re passionate about the river Severn, the Malvern Hills, the cathedral, the porcelain, cricket at New Road, Vesta Tilley, Elgar or the asparagus harvest come along. If you’re interested in the present and today’s issues you’re also very welcome. Tickets £5 on the door.

In the autumn Offa’s Press is publishing an anthology of The Poetry of Worcestershire. To date its three ‘county’ anthologies have been ‘recommended reading’ as selected by West Midland librarians. Submission details for this anthology will be shared at the workshop.

City Voices

Date: 9th April 2019

Time: 7.30-9pm

Location: The Light House, Chubb Buildings, Fryer Street, Wolverhampton, WV1 1HT.

Simon will be MC for a wonderful and varied evening of poems and stories at the Light House including Kenton Samuels, Nirmal Orjally, Rob Francis, Nellie Cole and Brendan Hawthorne. Tickets £3 on the door. All welcome.

Location: Claptrap the Venue, 108a High Street, Stourbridge, DY8 1EE.

Simon will be reading a few poems alongside Offa’s pamphleteers Ros Woolner, John Woodall, Nellie Cole and Jeff Phelps at this lively venue. There is also an open mic and the host is Rob Francis. Free.
