Writing the River

Date: 21st September 2019

Time: 10am-1pm

Location: The Meadow Inn, Buildwas Road, Ironbridge, TF8 7BJ.

As part of the Ironbridge ‘Festival of the Imagination’ Simon will be running an imaginative creative writing workshop with David Bingham. This will involve a walk up the River Severn from the Meadow Inn, Ironbridge, to Buildwas Abbey and focus on the power of the river: industrial, ecological and spiritual. Those taking part will be invited to read their poetry at the ‘Country Voices’ event in the afternoon at the Meadow Inn. To apply for tickets (£6) go to the ticket website link.

 

 

Country Voices

Date: 21st September 2019

Location: The Meadow Inn, Buildwas Road, Ironbridge, TF8 7BJ.

This month’s event will feature the workshop poets from the morning’s walk plus Mollie Walton who will be reading from her novel The Daughters of Ironbridge. Tickets are £4 on the door.

Punjabi Women’s Writing Group

Date: 22nd September 2019

Time: 2.30-4pm

Location: The Marquee, Dale End Park, Ironbridge, Telford, TF8 7EG.

Simon will be MC for the Punjabi Women’s Writing Group who will be reading their poems and stories at the Ironbridge Festival. The leader of the group is the widely published and travelled Kuli Kohli and it should be a sparkling afternoon of moving poetry and stories. Free event.

Poetry Walk

Date: 28th September 2019

Time: 11am-1pm

Location: Madeley Library, 21-22 Russell Rd, Madeley, Telford TF7 5BB

Simon will be leading a ‘Poetry Walk’ (supported by Poetry on Loan) from Madeley library down to the Iron Bridge with poetry readings along the way. Enjoy some local poems and the fresh air of a gentle walk down into the Gorge. There will be a brief stop for refeshment at one of the pubs along the way! This is part of the Ironbridge Festival of the Imagination and tickets are free but numbers are limited. To sign up go to the ticket website link. Those with cars should leave them in the vicinity of Madeley library. There is a bus service to get us back up the hill, if required.
